Dermal Fillers

Restylane (Restylane, Kysse, Lyft)

Among the most popular and effective dermal fillers on the market, today is Restylane, a product made with naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. Restylane is FDA approved to address a wide variety of aesthetic concerns ranging from volume-deflated lip contours to acne scarring, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and tear trough hollowing. Restylane is available in various combinations and formulas — Restylane, Restylane Kysse, and Restylane Lyft. Each of the Restylane products focuses on specific skin concerns and treatment areas, but they all use hyaluronic acid to make you look younger.

Restylane can address:

  • Nasolabial folds – Smile lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines – Creases running from the corners of the mouth to the chin
  • Crow’s feet
  • Tear troughs – Hollow-looking under-eye areas
  • Loss of volume in the cheeks and midface
  • Loss of definition in the jawline and chin
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Deflated lips
Restylane is used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the lines that run from your nose toward the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines that run from the corners of your mouth toward the chin (marionette lines). Additionally, Restylane is FDA-approved for lip enhancement in patients over the age of 21 and are uniquely formulated to give your lips fullness and definition.
Kysse is formulated specifically to help enhance age-depleted lips by adding volume, smoothing away fine lines, and brightening lip color. The product is designed to allow for the natural movements of the mouth as it smiles, laughs, and bestows kisses on loved ones. Kysse is also made with cross-linking XpresHAn Technology to promote an organic, elegant look. Results with Kysse can last up to one year or more.
Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L®, is used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face and hands. Through nonsurgical injections, Restylane Lyft is specifically designed to add fullness to the cheeks, midface area, and the back of the hands to help complete your aesthetic look.

A good candidate for Restylane is typically an adult seeking to address moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds or to enhance lip volume. Ideal candidates are in overall good health, have realistic expectations about the results, and are not allergic to any ingredients in Restylane.
Most patients observe immediate improvements in the treated areas following a Restylane injection. The product works by adding volume and smoothing out the treated areas. The optimal results may become more apparent in the days following the procedure as any minor swelling or bruising diminishes.
The duration of Restylane results varies based on the specific product variant and individual factors. Generally, Restylane fillers can last between 6 to 18 months. For example, treatments for nasolabial folds can last up to 12 months, while lip enhancements might require touch-ups slightly earlier. Periodic maintenance treatments can help sustain the desired effects.
After Restylane treatments, patients can usually return to their regular activities with little downtime. After the procedure, it is best to avoid intense physical activity, sun exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours. Common side effects include swelling, redness, bruising, pain, or tenderness at the injection site. Although rare, there is a possibility of allergic reactions and other serious side effects.
