How do dermal fillers work?
Dermal filler is a soft, gel-like substance made with a hyaluronic acid (HA) base. Filler injections improve facial volume while deeply hydrating tissues. The results are semi-permanent, lasting roughly six to twelve months or more, depending on the dermal filler brand. The body will naturally metabolize the filler over time.
Will the injections be painful?
Your Treat Yourself injector will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area before injection. After you are numb, the treatment area will be cleansed and sanitized. Then, your provider will inject the filler into the area with a needle or cannula. Filler injections feel comparable to a pinch and can cause some discomfort. The pain dissipates quickly, but you can expect considerable swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site.
When will I notice the results of my dermal filler injections?
Dermal filler results are immediate! Ask for a handheld mirror to watch your injector administer the filler under the skin to see the difference. Swelling will appear within minutes and last for up to two weeks. After two weeks, the results of your filler injections will settle. Maintenance injections are required to maintain the effects of your injections.
